This wasn’t going to be my first post but I need to start somewhere. My good pals Chad of Horror Movie BBQ Matt of Dinosaur Dracula and Jay of The Sexy Armpit all did Christmas Fallouts and Wrestling With Film wouldn’t exist without these three dudes so here goes.
First up are 3 films starring some stars from the Joshi Puroresu scene (Japanese Women’s Wrestling) They are Mutant Girl Squad and Robo Geisha featuring Shida Hikaru and Brute Educational Institution featuring Mio Shirai, Takako Inoue and Kayo Noumi. Brute Educational Institution was sent to me by a buddy from twitter who runs the sites Puroresu Central and Puro Central Shop if you’re into Japanese Wrestling at all you should be using these two sites.
Next up is a bunch of Lucha goodness. I was turned onto lucha hero films by my pal Keith J. Rainville who runs From Parts Unknown I hope to learn Spanish to better understand the films and to be able to read that massive book on the history of luchadores in cinema. Top left is Santo Contra Mujeres Vampiro. Top Right is Santo Contra Las Momias de Guanajuato. Middle Left is Las Momias de San Angel and middle right is a trio of Capulina films one of which I know features luchadores thanks to Keith’s book Zombi Mexicano
Finally is some films with some more recognizable wrestling personas. I love Santa with Muscles but I hear it’s not very well received. I’ve also watched 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown.
All in all a pretty damn good Christmas filled with tons of things I hope to write about on this blog.
